ParentSkills2Go Receives Four-Year Grant to Expand Early Intervention

ParentSkills2Go is proud to announce it has been awarded a four-year grant of £246,746 from the National Lottery Community Fund (Reaching Communities) to further develop and expand its flagship programme, My Child & Me.
This significant funding will enable ParentSkills2Go to deepen its early intervention work with families across Southwark, London, focusing on equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools to support their children’s mental health from an early age.
My Child & Me is an inclusive, culturally competent programme designed for parents of children aged four and above.
The initiative provides a vital foundation for early mental health understanding and prevention — particularly for families in underserved, low-income, and Global Majority communities.
Through My Child & Me, we will continue to:
- Equip parents with knowledge of mental health and emotional wellbeing
- Highlight the impact of school experiences on children’s mental health
- Explore how culture shapes mental health understanding and engagement
- Build confidence among parents to access support services
- Support early identification and intervention for children at risk
- Foster safe and welcoming spaces for parents to share, connect, and learn
“We are especially proud of the culturally competent approach that underpins My Child & Me,” said Margaret Taribo, CEO and Executive Director of ParentSkills2Go.
“When families see themselves reflected in the people who support them, it fosters trust, improves communication, and leads to better outcomes for children. We’re deeply grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for investing in this vital work.”
As the Race Equality Foundation notes, culturally competent care plays a key role in reducing disparities and increasing access to support — a guiding principle of the programme.
This grant also supports ParentSkills2Go’s broader mission to strengthen families, reduce long-term health inequalities, and support early intervention that prevents the escalation of more complex mental health issues.
ParentSkills2Go looks forward to the next four years of deepened impact, community connection, and stronger outcomes for families.
